Living in the UK could be expensive hence most of the students chose to work part time while they study. Working part time also allows them to communicate with locals, which enables them to improve their confidence and interpersonal skills. This immensely helps them in breaking the ice of awkwardness during their crucial interviews after course completion.   

As a full time international student, they are allowed to work up to 10 hours a week during term time on an undergraduate course and up to 20 hours a week during term time whilst pursuing a full time post graduate course. During the holidays the students are allowed to work full-time if they want to. 

The students enjoy the same wage rate as the locals, which varies depending on the age. For the year starting April 2022 the minimum wage rate the employers need to pay the employees between the age group 21-22 is £9.18 an hour and person above 22 years has to be paid a minimum of £9.50 an hour. The students may also opt for paid/unpaid internships with companies to gain experience if they require.

Back2study with its local presence and network with recruitment agencies and employers provides assistance to all its students to get into part time jobs once they arrive in the country. Usually, this service is only and exclusively available to Back2study Registered students and may vary from time to time based on the job availability and market conditions. 

All Back2study students will be circulated a form to fill up 2 months before their course starts to understand which city the students will be located in as they arrive to UK. A member of our welfare team will then get in touch with the students once they are in the UK to ensure enough help can be given to the students to look for part-time jobs. Back2study will also provide references to employers if their students need help with a local referee. 

Students should ideally aim at focusing on acclimatising with the city and the university routine during the first 2 months and then start looking for working part time. If you are a registered student with Back2study and opted for Premium Services our Welfare officer will try their best to send you for interviews within the 3rd and the 4th months of your course. Most of our registered students are able to start working part time within 3 months of their arrival.
